Cave System use service

This service includes a scheduled visit to the Cave System and the use of the system to the study and visualization of 3D digital models of the Centre or your own 3D models.

Terms of use for the visits:

- Visits must be scheduled in advance.

- Visits in groups will be for a maximum of 10 people.

Terms of use for the study and display of digital models:

- There is the possibility of visualizing the models provided by the user in the formats (.obj,. ply). The Centre will need to have the digital models with a week in advance.

- If the model on display is not on the formats previously mentioned or is bigger tan 5 million polygons, the Centre will require a study to analyse the viability of their view.

StereoWall System use service

This service includes a scheduled visit to the StereoWall System and the use of the system to the study, visualization and interaction of 3D digital models of the Centre or your own 3D models.

Terms of use for the visits:

- Visits must be scheduled in advance.

- Visits in groups will be for a maximum of 10 people.

Scanning service

A three-dimensional digital model is a three-dimensional representation of something.

There are several processes to obtain a 3D digital models. Modeling them through applications for 3D modeling like 3DStudio Max, Alias, Maya, Blender, Rhinoceros 3D, etc. .. , which allow a very simple way to create and modify objects in three dimensions, or by 3D scanning real objects and obteining its shape and appearance.

3D modelling applications will help us to create models that in appearance, seem the originals, but that hardly keep proportions. By contrast, the scanners are devices that analyze the real object or the physical environment to gather data on its shape and in some cases also the appearance (i.e. color). These data will be real and the geometry of the object that will get, it will be accurate to the reality.

The purpose of the 3D scanner is to create a cloud of points (coordinates in three-dimensional space) from the geometrical samples from the surface of the object, which will be used to extrapolate the shape of the object (reconstruction).

Once reconstructed the object, it can be used in a wide variety of applications and environments, such as in the industry of film and video games, industrial design, prototyping, quality control, cultural heritage, etc. ..


The Centre of Virtual Reality have two scanning devices.

A Konica Minolta Vivid 900 scanner and an Artec MH.

They use different technologies, and this means that each has its advantages, its limitations and costs.
